The Tonight Show Casper Van Dien recently appeared on the Tonight Show with Jay
Leno to discuss the movie Starship Troopers and Casper's
date life. Says Leno, "Casper is a very good-looking guy, so they must
have given him that name to balance things out...". In reality, he got
the name because of a distant relative, who started a trend of naming their
first-born son Casper. He is the 11th; his son, the 12th.
Van Dien looked a little nervous on the Show, but who wouldn't be on
their first time? His energy more than made up for it. You could see the
room practically light up when he walked in. They showed a clip from the
movie, and Casper explained how he chipped two teeth and was coughing up
blood following the tanker bug scene (in which he jumps onto the back of
the bug). Apparently he does his own stunts...
UPDATE: Dina Merey (Diz) was also on Leno on Friday, Nov 14. She seems
pretty cool and down-to-earth.
E! Online Before the Tonight Show, Van Dien stopped by E!
Online to answer questions that users brought up. He answered two of
my questions, plus many others.. even staying behind long enough to catch
a few more. I have the log
from that session. Some questions have arised as to whether or not that
was actually him. I know that it was him for several reasons:
1. This was E! Online. They're not gonna lie about something like that.
2. I was there, and it was too real to be something made up.
3. He mentioned two things that he said later that night on the Leno
show that were uniquely him.
In response to a question whether or not he thought he was the next
Willis or Stallone, Casper replied, "I think I am the next Casper Van Dien."
